Jason Heyward has left the Cubs.
Jason Heyward (knee) of the Chicago Cubs has been ruled out for the remainder of the regular season.
In addition, the organisation announced that Heyward will not be back on the Cubs' roster next season.
The veteran outfielder is owed $22 million in 2023, the final year of his eight-year contract.
The Cubs will almost certainly try to trade Heyward this offseason, but he will almost certainly be released.
During his seven seasons with the Cubs, Heyward had a batting line of.245/.323/.377.
During his time in Chicago, he did win a few Gold Gloves and a World Series.
