MLB General Manager was fired on Wednesday.
The Detroit Tigers announced Wednesday that they had parted ways with general manager Al Avila after seven years.
Avila had been with the company since 2002.
In April of that year, he was hired as the assistant general manager and vice president.
Avila was promoted to general manager and president of baseball operations on August 4, 2015, a position he still holds today.
Avila, 64, has been a member of the Major League Baseball organisation since 1992
first with the Florida Marlins and then with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
